What is Family Camp?
Family camp is unlike any camp you’ve ever experienced. Instead of sending the kids away for a week why doesn’t the whole family join in on the fun? Taking up only a weekend this camp is full of activities for any age and helps to develop family bonding through strengthening the family’s relationship to God. Worship and devotions are a critical part of the week that include sessions specifically for adults and kids.
Clear Gospel Message
We believe that the family is stronger when everyone has a strong relationship with the Lord and so we hope to strengthen and develop that relationship, and in turn, the families who visit us. Each day has a whole camp worship experience and each family is given devotional materials to complete together. The goal is that each person is able to have a little fun while also growing closer to God.
Experience
Located in rural Indiana away from the hustle and bustle of busy life, the Family Camp experience will engage the whole family in finding awe and wonder in God’s creation. With over 300+ acres of wooded forest to explore, experiencing creation is one of the main joys of our families who visit. Nature coupled with a fun family, teen-only, and adult-only times allows for the whole family to grow closer together while also growing closer to God.
Amenities
High Ropes | Pool | Teen-only Activities | Parent-only Time | Hiking | Fireside Worship | Family Dinners | Cookouts | Field Games | Low Ropes | Cabin Time
Outcomes
- Family camp gives your family the opportunity to create new memories focused on togetherness.

Clear Gospel Message
Here at Camp Lakewood, we teach and explore God’s love in every moment. In 2021 we are continuing to emphasize the power and love of Jesus Christ above all else. As each week dives into the theme, “Treasure,” campers will have the chance to learn about the Kingdom of God and the treasures within it. Ultimately, our hope is that campers see the Bible as one unified story telling about the greatest Treasure of all, Jesus Christ. Exploring Creation, Hope, Jesus, Jesus’ Sacrifice for us, and our response to that we believe that campers will not only have a good time at camp but have their lives transformed forever. Campers will explore these ideas and more through rich teaching from strong spiritual leaders, in small group devotional times with their cabins, in small group times with staff members and at evening worship at Vesper Hill. Our prayer is that each camper who leaves Lakewood will be transformed by the grace of God, on mission to fulfill our call to live a life of love full of the fruits of the spirit.
Volunteer Director Team
Our June 6-8 director team is hosted by Covenant UMC and Lifehouse Church with Marlene Fenstermacher, Amy Becker, Anita Eggleston, Angie McClurg and Pastor Ted Jansen. These four bring a powerful dynamic of love and instruction perfectly fit for even the youngest of campers!

Epworth Forest’s Middle School Impact Camps for 2021 provide a classic camp experience, featuring action-packed adventures including: swimming, paintball, “Sky High” our giant swing, kayaking, “The Park” and more. Most importantly, there is a deep focus on Christ through an amazing spiritual program including small groups, modern worship and opportunities to ask the tough questions about God.
Clear Gospel Message
At camp this summer, as always, we teach and explore the gospel with students through worship, stories, small group discussions, and feature activities. Each week has a different speaker and spiritual director to lead the students to a real and intimate relationship with our Savior.
Camp Worship
Praise can be expressed in many different ways, therefore, we like to help campers become inspired by the Holy Spirit’s movement during different worship times throughout the week. Each week brings a new worship team to lead students to give their all to our Creator. Operating camp during this usual season is giving us an exciting opportunity to have new worship experiences in settings like our outdoor stage. Don’t worry, the bands will still be here and our sound system will make sure our worship will be heard all over camp.
Campers also have the opportunity to worship in quiet nature spaces along the waterfront or under the trees, meeting in small groups, navigating through the Bible, and encouraging one another through activities.

What is Horse Camp?
Horse Camp runs alongside our traditional weeks of camp but re-imagines what camp can be. Horse campers stay in cabins and interact with the rest of camp, but this smaller group spends their rotation time at the barn learning animal husbandry and basic riding skills. Campers should expect to spend most of their time at the barn working with horses and learning about the marvels of God’s creation. Our Horse Barn Manager has years of experience with riding and showing horses and brings her passion with her during these horse camp weeks. This is a great camp for those who have a special passion or interest in horses. This is also a great camp for those who have never been around horses before and want a good “first experience”.
The Gospel Message
Horses are just one of many of God’s beautiful creations. They teach confidence, flexibility, loyalty, and honesty. Spending a week with horses will allow for your camper to see not only God’s creation, but also allow for campers to experience love in a brand new way. Our Barn Manager works to make scripture parallel the care for, and riding of horses. Our goal is for you to master the basics of both riding, and being a Christian! Come to Pine Creek and develop your camper’s sense of self, develop trust and identity in Christ.
Experience
Horse Anatomy | Horse tack & Equipment | Barn & Horse Safety | Horse Grooming | Horse Care | Leading | Horse Behavior | How to ride, walk, trot & steer a horse | Cabin Time | Camp Cookout | Devotions | Camp Worship
*Riding time & experience is subject to horse temperament and the confidence our instructors have in campers being ready for such an experience. Due to the shortened time for this camp, self-riding may not be offered, and instead, a “pony ride” experience may be substituted. This is all determined the week of and we cannot guarantee each camper will get to ride, only that every opportunity will be offered.

This shorter week is perfect for busy families who may not have time for the traditional camp experience, but still want their camper to have some quality time at camp. This week also is excellent for fire-time campers or young campers who may be a little intimidated being away from Mom and Dad for so long.
The Gospel Message
As our campers grow we want to keep engaging them in new and exciting ways. During this week of camp, children will participate in fun worship times with games and activities. Not only that but they will learn about the love God has for them and how they can spread that love outside of camp. The goal of this week is to have campers learn how God works around them and how to identify God in their day-to-day life.
Experience
Campers at Express Camp will get age-appropriate activities and a schedule that works for them. Cabin groups will spend quality time together growing and having fun but also get to engage with the whole camp group multiple times throughout the day. Each time spent in worship with be engaging and fun and provide life-changing messages centered on God and the life of Christ. The camp week will involve a mixture of high-paced activity and down-time to relax and enjoy the beautiful woods that surround the camp, campers may even get to see some wildlife if they are lucky!

What is Horse Camp?
Horse Camp runs alongside our traditional weeks of camp but reimagines what camp can be.
Experience
Horse Anatomy | Horse tack & Equipment | Barn & Horse Safety | Horse Grooming | Horse Care | Leading | Horse Behavior | How to ride, walk, trot & stear a horse | Cabin Time | Camp Cookout | Devotions | Camp Worship

Families will answer those questions through rich teaching from Pastor Gabrielle Ginder in small group devotional times with their family, and at evening worship at Vesper Hill. A personal growth program designed for teenagers who desire to be in leadership positions within their community now or in the future. Under the supervision of our ILT Director, this small group of 7th-9th graders will explore what it means to be a Christian leader. They’ll dig into leadership characteristics (like integrity, planning, organization, accountability, problem solving), and discover how these can be used both in the camp setting and their home communities. Each day they’ll have the opportunity to put into action what they’re learning through serving alongside camp counselors and staff to lead elementary campers in activities.

Clear Gospel Message
At Camp Lakewood, we teach and explore God’s love in every moment, emphasizing the power and love of Jesus Christ above all else. ILT campers will spend significant time exploring how God wants to use them personally as a leader. They’ll work alongside Christian camp leaders to see an example of what Christian leadership looks like. By the end of the week each ILT camper will have a plan to use their leadership skills to impact their home community. We believe that campers will not only have a good time at camp but have their lives transformed forever. Our prayer is that each camper who leaves Lakewood will be transformed by the grace of God, on mission to fulfill our call to live a life of love full of the fruits of the spirit.

Event Details
That Thing at Epworth Forest is a summer conference camp for high school students to come together in pursuit of Christ being lived out in their communities. There’s a ton of fun here but more importantly, this camp is about sending students out to put love and action into the root of their daily lives back at home.
Hundreds of students will be on site each week from ninth grade through graduating seniors. Students get some supervised free time to explore recreation areas in groups, choose from different Creative Labs, grab snack at the Beach House, and relax in their lodge common rooms.
Camp Worship
At the core of That Thing is a passion for creating expressive and interactive worship spaces that draw on multiple learning styles to help students engage with the gospel and finding their own rhythm and connection with God. Bands and speakers spend time connecting with students throughout the day as well as on stage. Counselors and leaders help students through small group discussions in meeting new friends and unpacking the experiences of the week.

What is Horse Camp?
Horse Camp runs alongside our traditional weeks of camp but reimagines what camp can be. This is also a great camp for those wanting to learn riding basics.
*Riding times are dependant upon horse temperament and instructor’s confidence in camper ability. Riding times and how far a camper will advance in the riding are not guaranteed. We do guarantee that each camper will get to ride at least once and that there will be every opportunity to ride during the week if able.
COVID Precautions

ILT Director
The ILT Program will be led by veteran Impact staff member Vanessa Darley. Vanessa is an energetic leader with a powerful devotion to Jesus Christ, and a passion for camp and young leaders. While not at camp, Vanessa is a communications major at Ball State University, and loves photography, yoga, and shopping with friends!

What is Middle School Camp?
Glad you asked! Middle school camp is a week-long, overnight camp designed for 6th – 8th graders. Experienced, long-term directors lead the charge during this week and offer a well rounded and fun week of camp. Middle School Camp allows for young teens and preteens to gather and learn about how they play a part in the body of Christ while getting to have some fun along the way.
Clear Gospel Message
As your child goes through the camp week they develop skills and knowledge that enable them to grow deeper in their faith and to start making commitments to Christ. Through experience and worship, campers find and build their relationship with God. This year’s theme is over “Treasure” and how we find such examples in scripture. Most importantly we learn how God treasure’s us and the world we live in.
Experience
Middle School Camp offers a multitude of fun activities for campers to engage in each day. Many of our campers comment that the beauty of Pine Creek is in nature and rightly so, we have over 300 acres for cabin groups to explore! Campers will be challenged physically and spiritually to grow into the person they are called to be. Each camper is placed in a cabin that they worship and fellowship with, while also being provided time to interact with everyone in the camp. This week also has a few middle-school only activities such as the Zipline, and Redneck Paintball! Campers are sure to have a memorable experience learning and growing in their relationship with God.

Through these experiences and time in Cabin Groups, campers will make new friends, strengthen old bonds, and grow in interpersonal skills. Most importantly, an emphasis on spiritual development through hearing about God’s love, devotional time in their cabin, and evening worship gives each camper a fresh look into what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

Our July 18-23 Director Team is hosted by Lifehouse Church, Ryan Gerig, Phillip Thain, Abbie Jones, Jess Howard and Coliss Wallace. These energetic leaders are equipped with many years of experience to not only bring the fun, but also have a week powerfully devoted to Jesus Christ.

As Camp Lakewood continues to look into the future, the importance of family continues to be recognized as a key factor for disciple making of all ages. Therefore, we are brining back Mother Child Camp! This is an incredible opportunity for mothers to connect with their children ages k-6. In addition to the abundance of fun, Pastor Tracey Zimmerman will be leading devotions for moms only, while her daughters Kourtney and Katie will be leading devotions for the kids. Corporately, groups will worship together after meals and at Vesper Hill, while also having times in cabins and throughout the day to grow spiritually together. As each week dives into the theme, “Treasure,” campers will have the chance to learn about the Kingdom of God. Why is the Kingdom important? How does Jesus fit into the story of the Kingdom? If we believe those to be true (and we do!) what does it mean to live as a child to help bring the Kingdom to earth now? Families will answer those questions through rich teaching from strong spiritual leaders, in small group devotional times with their family, and at evening worship at Vesper Hill. Our prayer is that each person young or old who leaves Lakewood will be transformed by the grace of God, on mission to fulfill our call to live a life of love full of the fruits of the spirit.
